Florida: a sorry State of affairs

Wondering what the hell I am doing living in a state that has a Bush (gross!) governor who hires and then defends a child-beating man to head the child welfare agency. These Bushes surely excel at irony. This on the heels of a lovely law recently enacted by the exceedingly Republican Florida state legislature that mandates a single pregnant woman who wants to put her child up for adoption advertise her pregnancy in the newspapers to make sure the "father" does not want the baby instead. And speaking of scarlet letters, at the rate we're regressing, we'll soon have Taliban-like laws that call for the public execution of a woman who commits adultery. I mean if it's in the bible, it should certainly be a law. Just ask John Ashcroft. Or Ken Starr.

And don't even get me started on the highly flawed educational testing in this state, a cornerstone of the Bush education plan. How many millions of dollars are we spending to enrich a private company that administers and grades the tests that could be going to decrease class size? I know many, many teachers and their schools received A's because they spend countless hours on test preparation at the expense of all else. Please my fellow Floridians, get your asses registered to vote and let's get rid of at least one Bush in November.
